Tinubu Takes Decisive Action, Sacks FCCPC and BPE Chiefs

In a significant move on Monday, Bola Tinubu announced the immediate dismissal of the Executive Vice Chairman and CEO of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), Babatunde Irukera, and the Director-General/CEO of the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE), Mr. Alexander Okoh.

The decision was communicated through a statement signed by Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale. According to Ngelale, the dismissals are part of a broader strategy to restructure and reposition crucial federal agencies. The primary aim is to safeguard the rights of Nigerian consumers and bolster the contributions of key growth-enabling institutions to the nation’s economy.

Titled ‘Tinubu dismisses two chief executive officers,’ the statement emphasized the administration’s commitment to enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of critical government bodies. Ngelale stated, “This action is in conformity with plans to restructure and reposition critical agencies of the Federal Government towards protecting the rights of Nigerian consumers and providing a strong basis for enhanced contributions to the nation’s economy by key growth-enabling institutions.

”In response to the dismissals, the two ousted Chief Executives, Irukera and Okoh, have been instructed to hand over their duties to the next most senior officer in their respective agencies. This transition period is temporary, pending the appointment of new Chief Executive Officers who will lead these important institutions into the next phase of development and service delivery.Credit The guardian
