Chicago State University: Tinubu’s Results not from us.
Mr. Caleb Westberg, the registrar at Chicago State University, testified under oath that Mr. Tinubu’s certificate, dated June 22, 1979, and submitted to INEC on June 17, 2022, was not issued by the school, making it impossible for them to authenticate its origin. This incident highlights a degradation of our value system, as intellectuals are seemingly defending certificate forgery, which has made Nigerians a subject of global ridicule.
One of Tinubu’s lawyers, Oluwole Afolabi, presented a document bearing the CSU insignia, but the school promptly denied its authenticity.
Furthermore, the statement made by Chicago State University lawyers that “it’s a Nigerian thing to forge documents” has further tarnished the country’s reputation on the international stage. This may lead to increased scrutiny of certificates issued by Nigerian institutions in the future.
