Nigerian singer and actress Tiwa Savage has shared the unexpected origin of her debut movie, ‘Water & Garri’.
Speaking at a press conference in Lagos, she revealed that the idea for the movie came to her while she was drunk in her room. To her surprise, her team embraced the concept, calling it a “brilliant idea”.
‘Water & Garri’ premiered on Prime Video on May 10 and tells the story of Aisha, a young woman who returns home after a long estrangement to find her native home vastly transformed.
The movie features Tiwa Savage in the lead role, alongside Andrew Bunting, Mike Afolarin, and Jemima Osunde. Directed by Meji Alabi, the film was shot on location in Cape Coast, Ghana.
