Tribunal sacks Nasarawa State GovernorNasarawa Election Tribunal has nullified the election of Sule and Declared Ombugadu Governor .
The Tribunal ordered that the certificate of return issued to Sule should be withdrawn and issued to Ombugadu.The Governorship Election Tribunal in Lafia has ruled that David Ombugadu of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) is the rightful Governor of Nasarawa State, overturning the election victory of Audu Sule from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The tribunal’s virtual judgment concluded that the petitioners successfully demonstrated their claims. Among their contentions was the allegation that Ombugadu’s votes were unfairly reduced, while Sule and the APC received unwarranted increases in votes, especially in Gayam and Chiroma Wards of Lafia Local Government Area.
As a result of the tribunal’s decision, the certificate of return initially issued to Alhaji Sule has been revoked, and it will now be given to David Ombugadu as the duly elected Governor of Nasarawa State.
