The Federal Government has dismissed claims that the UK endorsed a petition for a Yoruba Nation submitted by Sunday Adeyemo, also known as Sunday Igboho.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson, Amb Eche Abu-Obe, the UK had no official involvement or endorsement of the document. The British High Commissioner confirmed that the petition’s delivery was part of an established practice, but it was not backed by any UK government agency.
The UK government typically doesn’t concern itself with petitions concerning another country’s sovereign affairs. Similar petitions have been rejected in the past.
