University of Benin (UNIBEN) and Ajayi Crowther University produces 214 First class graduates

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Benin, Prof Lilian Salami, announced on Friday that 14,254 students graduated with first degrees. Among them, 178 achieved first-class honours, while one received a distinction.

This was disclosed during the 48th convocation and 53rd Founders’ Day ceremonies for the 2020/2021 graduands.

Prof. Salami emphasized her administration’s consistent pursuit of academic excellence and overall growth in the past four years. This effort aimed to positively reshape the university’s narrative and enhance its standing among higher institutions.At a press conference on Friday, Vice-Chancellor Prof Timothy Adebayo revealed that 36 students earned first-class degrees, with 30 set to receive doctorates. Additionally, three individuals—Taiwo Afolabi, Kate Isa, and Sir Gbolahan Folayan—would be honored with the university’s doctoral degrees for their notable contributions to humanity.

Despite the university’s strides in academic programs, Prof Adebayo expressed hope for more courses to be accredited by the National Universities Commission for Ajayi Crowther University (ACU). He anticipated positive outcomes from resource verification and accreditation exercises, foreseeing benefits from the expansion of the university’s academic offerings.Credit : Punch News
