We will show Wike that he is not above the party- National Chairman
The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) declared its intent to take disciplinary action against the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, and other PDP members who worked against the party.
PDP National Chairman, Umar Damagum, conveyed this determination during a news conference in Abuja on Tuesday. The party leadership expressed disagreement with President Bola Tinubu’s stance on the political turmoil in Rivers State.
The PDP NWC insisted that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) must conduct elections to fill the seats of the 27 lawmakers who defected from the PDP to the All Progressives Congress (APC).Damagum emphasized the party’s demand for the conduct of elections in the 25 constituencies in Rivers State where vacancies emerged due to the defection of former members.
He cited Section 109 and Section 84 (15) of the Electoral Act 2022, urging INEC to set a date for the elections pending the resolution of any court suits. The PDP National Chairman addressed the issue of party members, including Wike, who worked against the PDP, stating, “We are not unmindful of the fact that it’s not only Wike; there are other people that have also worked against his party.
When we get to that level, we will sanction everybody. If Wike believes he is above this party, we will show him he is not above this party.”Credit Channels TV
