The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has successfully concluded the first phase of its Free Health Medical Outreach in Ukwa General Hospital, Oke Ikpe, Ukwa West Local Government Area of Abia State. The program, which was held in partnership with Derums Global Services, provided free healthcare services to over 2,000 patients.
According to the NDDC Managing Director, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, the outreach program aimed to improve the health situation and narrative of medically underserved communities in the Niger Delta region. The program has been a flagship initiative of the commission, with a proven track record of enhancing the quality of life for rural communities.
The objective of the program is to ensure access to good healthcare services by removing financial barriers. The NDDC has collaborated with various healthcare organizations to achieve this goal. As an interventionist agency, the commission has prioritized good health as integral to its mandate of facilitating sustainable development in the Niger Delta Region.
The program aligns with the federal government’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which emphasizes the importance of healthcare and social well-being for all Nigerians. The NDDC’s efforts have made a significant impact on the lives of the rural poor in the region, with testimonies and evidence documenting the program’s beneficial effects.
