The Media Office of former Kogi State Governor Alhaji Yahaya Bello has refuted claims that he is sponsoring the ongoing #Endbadgovernance protests across Nigeria. A statement issued on Wednesday described the claim as “reckless and irresponsibly malicious” and part of a grand plan to frame Bello.
The statement revealed that enemies of the former governor are behind the false report, which is aimed at tarnishing his image. Bello’s Media Office emphasized that he remains a patriot who has devoted his time and resources to building a united and prosperous Nigeria.
The statement highlighted Bello’s efforts in resolving a major problem between the North and the South, which threatened national unity. It also mentioned his support for President Bola Tinubu, including mobilizing residents of Kogi to deliver victory for the President during the presidential election.
Bello’s whereabouts have been unknown since the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission declared him wanted over an alleged N80.2bn fraud. Despite being a chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress and an ally of President Tinubu, there is no record of the President intervening to stop the criminal case or offer Bello protection.
