Nigerian Police Service Commission Denies sharing slots to politicians
Solomon Arase, the PSC Chairman and former Inspector-General of Police, clarified during a visit to the Police Academy in Wudil, Kano State, that recruitment will be merit-based.
Arase assured that the recruitment board was inclusive to avoid influence, stating, “It is not shared by any politician,” according to Daily Trust.
The Nigerian Police Academy Wudil, established in 1988, is a federal institution in Kano State offering law enforcement degree programs.
The recruitment process for the academy and police force has faced corruption issues. In 2020, SaharaReporters revealed instances of applicants paying N700,000 for constable positions in the nationwide recruitment.
Former President Muhammadu Buhari approved the recruitment of 10,000 police constables in 2019 to enhance national security.
