Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has announced that the 6,000-capacity Edo Arena will be named after popular afrobeats star, Rema. The governor made this known during the groundbreaking ceremony of the project in Benin City, which Rema attended.
The arena, dubbed “Rema’s Dome,” will host various events, including concerts, conferences, and symposiums, and is expected to attract visitors to the state, creating employment opportunities for youths. Rema, born Divine Ikubor, is a proud ambassador of Edo State and has promoted the state and legacy of the ancient Benin empire in his music and concerts.
His latest hit song, “Benin Boys,” featuring fellow Edo-born star, Shallipopi, is a tribute to the city of Benin.
