Former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose has dismissed rumors of defecting from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Fayose reaffirmed his commitment to the PDP and expressed his desire to see the party return to power in the state in 2026.
Fayose appealed to PDP members to stop attacking his character and person, urging them to eschew politics of bitterness. He acknowledged his support for President Bola Tinubu in the 2023 election, citing his desire to see power return to the South.
However, he clarified that his relationship with Governor Biodun Oyebanji is cordial and not politically motivated.
Fayose emphasized the need for PDP members to unite and work together to defeat the APC in the next governorship election.
He announced his plans to campaign across the state, supporting party members with logistics and urging them to set aside factions and divisions.
The former governor specifically called for an end to factions bearing his name, as well as those of Biodun Olujimi, Bisi Kolawole, and Duro Faseyi, stressing the need for peace and unity within the party to achieve electoral success.
Fayose’s appeal comes amid a long-standing leadership crisis in the Ekiti State PDP, which has seen factions emerge along lines of support for him and Olujimi.
