Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, have recently concluded a three-day visit to Nigeria, in this visit, they promoted the Invictus Games for wounded military veterans.
The couple arrived in Abuja on Friday and later traveled to Lagos, where they participated in a basketball event with the Giants of Africa Foundation, an organization that supports youth development through sports.
During their visit, Prince Harry and Meghan emphasized the power of sports in bringing people together and creating community.
They also met with wounded soldiers and discussed mental health awareness. The prince, who founded the Invictus Games 10 years ago, highlighted the importance of supporting veterans in their recuperation.
In Lagos, the couple met with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and participated in a fundraiser. The governor praised their commitment to supporting military personnel and mental health awareness, and expressed interest in hosting the Invictus Games in Nigeria in the future.
Meghan Markle, who has Nigerian heritage, also spoke about her connection to the country and her desire to learn more about her roots. She attended an event for women in leadership, hosted by her and the Director General of the World Trade Organization, Dr Ngozi Okonjo Iweala, where she discussed her role as a role model and her Nigerian heritage.
