Veteran Nollywood actor, Kanayo O. Kanayo, has expressed concerns about the heavy military and police presence in the South-Eastern part of Nigeria. In a video posted on his Instagram page, Kanayo highlighted the humiliation faced by travelers in the region, comparing it to his own experience traveling from Ibadan to Lagos without encountering any checkpoints.
Kanayo’s concerns stem from the frequency of checkpoints in the South-East, where passengers are often asked to disembark with their hands up. He questioned whether the South-East is still part of Nigeria, emphasizing the need for representatives to address the state of federal roads.
The actor’s comments come amid tensions in the region, with groups like the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) advocating for independence. Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has urged Igbo people not to join protests against the federal government.
