When her husband refused to get a divorce, Metrowoman set fire to his home.
Amina Hassan, a 20-year-old woman from Mubi North LGA in Adamawa State, set her husband’s home on fire because he wouldn’t get a divorce.
Amina Hassan, a resident of Mubi North’s Shuware neighbourhood, married Muhammad Auwal around five weeks ago. She disclosed that the two had made a pre-marital agreement that the guy would divorce her soon after the wedding.
As per Suleiman Nguroje, the state Police Public Relations Officer, she told the police that she had set the house on fire because her husband wouldn’t call it quits.
We agreed that following their marriage, he would file for divorce from me. When I first met him, I begged him to get a divorce, but he refused.
She informed police agents who are currently looking into her that “he descended on me and started beating me instead of divorcing me, as a result of which I lost my temper and set the house ablaze.”
DAILY POST gathered on Tuesday that a few days before the wedding, Amina had informed her parents that she was no longer interested in the marriage. Her parents, however, felt that since they had already sent out invitation cards, there was no going back.
According to people close to her, she tried everything to win her husband’s heart away from her, but he seemed more interested in her when she went to a native doctor for assistance.
The local physician is rumoured to have left Mubi and blocked his phone number in order to appease her.
