WOLE SOYINKA DID NOT GRADUATE FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF IBADAN

Wole Soyinka did not graduate from UI

The Director of Research and Strategy for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has stated that Nobel Prize winner Prof. Wole Soyinka attended the University of Ibadan (UI) but cannot provide his diploma because he was “rusticated” and did not complete his program there.

This revelation was made following a classmate of Bola Tinubu appearing in court to confirm that they attended the same school. This development is amid a controversy surrounding President Tinubu’s academic record and an ongoing appeal before the Supreme Court.

According to Obaseki, the main concern is not whether Tinubu attended Chicago State University but whether he graduated or falsified his diploma. He emphasized that the school has denied the certificate’s authenticity, stating that they had never seen one like it before.

In the interview, Obaseki drew a parallel with Prof. Wole Soyinka, who attended the University of Ibadan in the 1950s but cannot produce his UI certificate because he was rusticated and didn’t complete his studies. The key issue, he emphasized, is the validity of the certificate, and the school’s representatives have expressed doubts about its authenticity during the legal proceedings.

In essence, the focus of the discussion is on the credibility of the academic certificates in question, rather than the attendance itself.
