New Super Eagles Coach Finidi George to Unveil Assistants Shortly

Finidi George, the newly appointed Super Eagles coach, has announced that he will name his assistant coaches “very soon”.

This comes amid rumors of discussions with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) over his preferred assistants.

Finidi was appointed as the substantive Eagles coach on April 29, beating other candidates to the job.

With just a month to go before his first task of leading the team against South Africa and Benin Republic in crucial 2026 World Cup qualifiers, Finidi is yet to name his assistants.

There have been rumors that the NFF wants Finidi to work with Daniel Amokachi and Vincent Enyeama as goalkeeper trainer, while Finidi reportedly prefers foreign assistants.

However, when asked about his assistants, Finidi simply replied, “Very soon.”

The NFF spokesperson, Ademola Olajire, also stated that the body will not be pressured by the rumors and will make the announcement at the appropriate time. “When everything is sorted, the NFF will announce. We don’t react to rumors,” Olajire said.
