Veteran Nollywood actor, Kanayo O. Kanayo, has advised Nigerians to seek blessings from their parents by giving them their first salary, rather than handing it over to religious leaders.
He also criticized the common practice among Nigerian Christians of giving their first salary of the year to their pastors, stating that it has no biblical basis.
Kanayo urged Christians to be more financially aware and stop making poor decisions in the name of religion.
On social media, he wrote: “Take your first salary to your father for his blessings, not your pastor. Let’s think about the practicalities – who covered your expenses for the month? Where is this practice commanded in the Bible? It’s time for Christians to wake up and rethink their priorities.”
