Nollywood actress and film producer, Chinenye Emekesiri paid a visit to Winsophia High School to speak with students about the positive uses of social media.
Emekesiri highlighted the importance of social media as a tool for communication and collaboration, educating the students on its importance as well as advantages and disadvantages.
She urged the students to leverage their social media presence for educational purposes and positive self-expression. She also emphasized responsible social media use and advised students to avoid wasting time on unproductive online activities.
In her words, she described that using the media in the right way could make them into respectable individuals in the society. Therefore, the students should avoid the negative usage of these platforms.
The actress and film producer urged them to avoid spending their data and time on irresponsible behaviors, instead, they should invest in their lives by engaging in positive activities. Negative activities such as watching pornography and misleading contents should be avoided.
Emekesiri mentioned that it was now a common thing for many students to own a phone, with this realization, she advised them to set up their accounts and use it to educate their colleagues in school, most especially the students in higher classes who have junior ones looking up to them.
She mentioned that subjects such as English language, social studies can be taught through these platforms to educate the masses every Saturday, peradventure, they could be noticed by brands who are willing to invest in their future, thereby becoming good representatives of their schools.
Emekesiri urged them to study hard, respect their parents, and deviate from engaging in social media scandals or irresponsible behaviors.
She hammered that social media is also a tool of communicating with their friends and relatives. A tool of collaborating with friends to produce contents which would be recognized for its positive impact.
Meanwhile, she advised the students to deviate from using the social media during classes which could waste their study time. The Nollywood actress also promised to support them in developing their drama and writing clubs, that is, the school’s Art and social club.
At the end of the lecture, the students and teachers were glad and appreciated her presence. The actress took many pictures with them and also signed autographs as requested.
The visit ended on a good note with the actress promising to visit the school again and encouraged the students to remember all she had taught them and put it to a good use.
