Actress Kehinde Bankole has set her sights on the ultimate prize in the film industry – an Academy Award, popularly known as the Oscars.
Fresh from her win as Best Lead Actress at the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards for her role in the movie ‘Adire’, Bankole expressed her desire for international recognition and opportunities.
In an interview, she said, “I would love an Oscar nomination. Every actor should strive for international exposure and opportunities. While we are working hard in Africa, getting international recognition would be a welcome achievement. We are gradually making progress, and I believe we can get there.”
Bankole also expressed gratitude for her recent award, acknowledging that it comes with a responsibility to continue delivering outstanding performances. She also praised her colleagues, including Yvonne Jegede, Funlola Aofiyebi-Raimi, and Ifeanyi Kalu, who starred alongside her in ‘Adire’, emphasizing that their collective effort made the movie a success.
With her sights set on the Oscars, Bankole is determined to continue pushing boundaries and making a name for herself in the global film industry.
