PRESIDENT TINUBU APPOINTS NEW EFCC CHAIRMAN

Tinubu appoints New Efcc chairman

President Bola Tinubu has appointed Ola Olukoyede as the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), according to a statement from presidential spokesman Ajuri Ngelale. Olukoyede’s appointment is initially for a four-year term, pending Senate confirmation. This decision comes after a series of changes in EFCC leadership, including the suspension of Abdulrasheed Bawa due to allegations of misconduct.

Ola Olukoyede, the newly appointed EFCC Chairman, is a lawyer with over 22 years of experience in regulatory compliance and fraud management. He has previously served as Chief of Staff to the Executive Chairman and as Secretary to the Commission. Muhammad Hammajoda has been appointed as the Secretary of the EFCC for a renewable term of five years.

The President emphasized the importance of the new leadership in the fight against corruption as part of his Renewed Hope agenda, with a focus on reformed institutional architecture in the anti-corruption sector.
