History was made on Friday 14 November 2025 when the First Nnamdi Azikiwe Memorial Lecture was unveiled and instituted at the Princess Alexandra Auditorium University of Nigeria Nsukka. It is going to be a Biannual Lecture.
The Theme for the Lecture was “THE NNAMDI AZIKIWE POLITICAL PHILOSOPHY: LESSONS FOR GOOD GOVERNANCE AND DEVELOPMENT.
The Guest Lecturer was Chief Barr Obioma success Akagburuonye, Akarugo Mbaise, JP. The Chairman of the event was Chief Barr Nnia Nwodo, the Ike Ukehe, the former President General of Ohaneze Ndigbo.
The Mother of the Day was the wife of Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, Emeritus Professor Uche Azikiwe.
In preparation for the Memorial Lecture, Chief Obioma Akagburuonye paid a courtesy visit to Nnamdi Azikiwe’s family at their Residence at Onuiyi Haven, Nsukka, on 13 November 2025.
Speaking about the vision to immortalize Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe and uphold his vision, the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Professor T. C. Nzeadibe, narrated the vision that originated with him which he proposed before the Faculty Board and was unanimously accepted by the Faculty.
They started working on the Project which became a reality on Friday 14 November 2025 with the First Memorial Lecture.
The summary of the Lessons is that Nigeria can only survive by going back to the foundation laid by Nnamdi Azikiwe and the founding fathers that created the Regional Autonomy for the Regions to govern themselves and develop at their own pace in Nigeria.
After the Lecture, the Faculty of Social Sciences gave Chief Obioma success Akagburuonye an Award of Honour.
