Abia State Empowers 1,500 Youths with Digital Skills Training

According to ThisDay news, The Abia State Government has initiated a digital skills training programme targeting 1,500 youths across Isialangwa North and South Local Government Areas. The programme, launched at Mbato Secondary School in Isialangwa South, aims to equip participants with essential digital skills for the 21st-century economy.

The Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development, Nwaobilor Ananaba, explained that the training, already underway in Aba for Abia South participants, will extend to other regions, ensuring inclusivity across the state. He emphasized the importance of digital skills in career readiness, education, and innovation, highlighting the programme’s potential to unlock opportunities and drive success.

“This initiative is part of our effort to empower young people with knowledge and skills to lead fulfilling lives and contribute to society,” Ananaba stated, urging participants to approach the three-month training with commitment.

The ICT hub facilitating the training, provided by Senator Darlington Nwokocha, was lauded as a vital resource in reducing unemployment and ensuring relevance in the global digital economy.

The Commissioner for Science and Technology, David Kalu, noted that the initiative would not only provide life-changing skills but also encourage youths to create solutions for local challenges. Similarly, the Mayor of Isiala Ngwa South, Nnadozie Nwogwugwu, commended the programme as an effective strategy for human capital development.

Chibueze Ukaegbu, CEO of LearnFactory Nigeria, highlighted that the training covers diverse areas such as website development, digital arts, artificial intelligence, and data engineering. He urged participants to maximize the opportunity to acquire skills necessary for the modern economy, thanking Governor Alex Otti for championing the initiative.

The training reflects the state’s policy direction of sustainable empowerment for youths, positioning Abia State as a leader in digital innovation and youth development.
