Abia State Restricts Movement of Heavy Duty Vehicles
After a fatal car crash at Aba waterside bridge, claiming four lives, the Abia State government now limits heavy-duty vehicles’ movement in Aba and Umuahia from 7 am to 8 pm. Yesterday, a truck without brakes collided with a Toyota Sienna and a tricycle, causing four deaths and multiple injuries.
The state government expresses sympathy for the crash victims’ families, praying for the deceased souls’ peaceful repose and a swift recovery for the injured. Additionally, they are reaching out to provide necessary support to the affected families.
During Governor Okezie Ikpeazu’s tenure, heavy-duty vehicle movement in Aba and Umuahia was restricted from 7 am to 8 pm. However, this order was ignored by operators after he left office. In a statement by Mr. Dodoh Okafor, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Public Communication, the government reinstates the previous directive to limit heavy-duty vehicles’ movement within Aba and Umuahia areas between 7 am and 8 pm.
