According to Peoples Gazette, The Commissioner of Police in Abia State, Danladi Isa, has cautioned newly promoted officers against engaging in extortion, bribery, and other unprofessional behaviors.
Speaking in Umuahia on Tuesday during the decoration of 63 newly promoted officers, Mr. Isa emphasized the importance of professionalism and respect for the public.
He congratulated the officers on their promotions, which included the elevation of 16 superintendents to chief superintendents, 11 deputy superintendents to superintendents, and 36 assistant superintendents to deputy superintendents, including the command’s spokesperson, Maureen Chinaka.
The commissioner urged the officers to uphold their new responsibilities with integrity and avoid actions that could tarnish the image of the police force.
“Some of you are rude to civilians because you are privileged to be police officers, but you forget that you came in as civilians and will retire as civilians. Respect those you are policing because we are all servants of the people,” Mr. Isa stated.
He encouraged the officers to embrace professionalism and steer clear of practices such as corruption and incivility, which could damage public trust.
The commissioner further reminded them that their promotions come with higher expectations and responsibilities to serve the public with dedication and respect.
