MINISTER OF YOUTH DEVELOPMENT TALKS ABOUT HER INTEREST IN THINGS THAT CONCERNS THE YOUTHS

DR. JAMILA IBRAHIM

Dr. Jamila Ibrahim, the Minister of Youth Development, gave Nigerian youngsters assurances on Wednesday in Abuja that she will be passionate and committed to promoting their issues.

In a statement, the ministry’s head of press, Mrs. Maryam Yusuf, said that the minister provided the promise to a delegation of high-ranking members of the Nigerian Youth Parliament (NYP).
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the delegation was led by the speaker, Mrs. Azeezat Yishawu, on her courtesy visit to Abuja.

“This is your residence and your ministry. I have noted all of your demands and difficulties, as well as the excellent work that the Parliament has completed.

The minister remarked, “This is very impressive, and the ministry will take all necessary steps to address the challenges.”

Ibrahim, who expressed a strong commitment to women and young people, pledged to read the National Youth Security Summit report. “I have a strong commitment to issues pertaining to youth.

“Let us offer prayers for the Speaker’s stewardship in the Parliament, and I promise to investigate the challenges facing the Parliament and then furnish the required assistance.”

“I’ve been observing from a distance, and she’s done a great job leading the Parliament.”

The minister was cited as stating, “It is my hope and desire to see that you evolve into bigger responsibilities and take on bigger roles.”

“I’m passionate about supporting young people and women because I see myself in them,” the speaker stated.
The minister said that Yishawu’s achievement was partially due to the male members of the Parliament’s backing for her.

According to her, women need more room to demonstrate their leadership abilities. Yishawu stated in her speech that they were in the ministry to reassure the minister of their support and their willingness to offer whatever assistance would be required to ensure her success. She informed the minister that a thorough report on the research the Youth Parliament had conducted on 20 states was also sent to her.
“The report will be useful in formulating policies and implementing programmes that will have a significant positive impact on youth.” She claimed that while she was in charge of the Parliament, events like the National Youths Security Summit were completed.

In 2022, a summit was arranged to discuss ways in which youth might contribute to maintaining national peace.

Yishawu went on to say that studies on drug misuse, social vices, and the employment of young people were conducted in response to the recent spike in drug addiction cases among adolescents.
