The National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT) has issued a 21-day ultimatum to the Federal Government to pay its members’ withheld salaries, totaling five and a half months.
The union’s president, Ibeji Nwokoma, stated that failure to address their demands would lead to industrial action. Other outstanding issues include payment of arrears of minimum wage, salary increases, and inadequate infrastructure.
NAAT had previously gone on strike in March 2022, which ended with a resolution. However, the government has yet to fulfill its promises, prompting the new ultimatum.
The union warns that it will not be responsible for any consequences if its demands are not met.
