Nigeria’s National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) is poised to become the country’s leading innovation and technology transfer agency, according to its Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Khalil Halilu.
Halilu expressed his commitment to transforming NASENI’s role in Nigeria’s technological landscape. “I made a promise in 2023 that I was going to take NASENI products from the shelves to the market. One year after, it is a case of promise made and kept,” he stated.
Under Halilu’s leadership, NASENI has launched 36 market-ready products, including solar irrigation pumps, electric vehicles, and smart home systems. These products demonstrate NASENI’s focus on socio-economic development and its contribution to Nigeria’s economic growth.
Halilu emphasized the importance of collaboration in NASENI’s successes. “We collaborate, we do technology transfer, we domesticate and commercialize together,” he noted. He highlighted the agency’s partnerships with strategic allies and Original Equipment Manufacturers, which have been pivotal in product development.
NASENI plans to establish showrooms where people can purchase its products in retail, further increasing accessibility. Halilu’s vision is to enhance NASENI’s profile and ensure its innovations significantly contribute to Nigeria’s economic growth.
“We are going to have a better NASENI, focusing on the socio-economic development of our nation, Nigeria, and the fulfillment of the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Federal Government,” Halilu stated.
