President Bola Tinubu has broken the political impasse in Ondo State that has existed for more than six months. At the residence in Abuja, President Tinubu had a private meeting with each of the gladiators that lasted more than six hours. APC National Chairman Umar Gbanduje, APC State Chairman Ade Adetimehin, embattled Deputy Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, Speaker of the House of Assembly Hon. Olamide Oladiji, and Senator Jimoh Ibrahim were among those present at the meeting. Members of the House of Assembly, Princess Oladunni Odu, the Secretary to the Ondo State Government, Dare Aragbaiye, Aminu Raimi, and the Governor’s son, Babajide Akeredolu, are among the others.
Vanguard in Akure was informed by sources present at the meeting that the president gave the order to preserve the status quo. The source claims that “the President expressed disapproval of the decision to name Aiyedatiwa as acting governor and issued a warning that such an event should never occur in the state.”
“The deputy governor should return to his position as deputy governor and not as acting governor, per President Tinubu’s directive. In addition, he gave the order to uphold the party exco and the state executive council in the face of threats. The President went on to request that Aiyedatiwa write a letter of commitment and uphold state peace.
In addition, the SSG, Princess Oladunni, the Party Chairman, Adetimehin, and the Speaker of the House, Oladiji, were designated by the President to keep an eye on the deputy governor and report him if he departed from the decision made during the meeting. The President also issued a corresponding directive to the deputy governor, instructing him and his team to immediately retract every case they had filed with the court.
Remember that eleven members of the House of Assembly had intended to convene in plenary in the state to appoint the deputy governor to serve as acting governor, but the President intervened and cancelled the plan. It was claimed that certain influential forces outside the state had infiltrated the parliamentarians with the intention of promoting Aiyedatiwa’s appointment as the interim governor. Additionally, it was discovered that Ganduje, the party’s national leader, supported the arrangement up until the president intervened.
The deputy governor and Ganduje, the party’s national leader, were alleged to have initiated the action. President Bola Tinubu has been praised by the Progressives Mandate Renewal (PMR) for his assistance in the state’s political crisis. The organisation stated that Tinubu has once again shown himself to be the representative of the people, a kind leader who values allegiance. Samson Ogunyemi, the coordinator, claimed that Tinubu had reduced the haughtiness and conceit shown by the entourage of the Deputy Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
In an Akure statement, Ogunyemi stated: “The deputy governor’s group’s goal is to declare the governor incapable of serving as governor and remove the governor.” They were passionately supporting the governor’s disgraceful removal from office. “The deputy governor’s group was already celebrating on social media during the meeting. They believed that the conference would end well for them. This is not what the deputy governor and his team were hoping for. Their hopes and dreams have been beaten and crushed. The state’s citizens can now discern the deputy governor’s actual character.
We are really pleased that the President has issued an order maintaining the status quo. This is the proper action to guarantee harmony and understanding throughout the state. The resolution that was passed, together with the President’s request that Aiyedatiwa write an undated resignation letter, will control his outbursts and help him learn appropriate behaviour.”We assure President Tinubu of our unwavering support and commitment, and we will continue to appreciate him.”
