The Nigerian Army has taken a significant step in improving the welfare and operational efficiency of its personnel. A 12-unit cabin accommodation for officers and soldiers of the Nigerian Army Remotely Piloted Aircraft System Regiment in Kaduna was recently unveiled.
The unveiling ceremony was performed by Major-General Mayirenso Lander Saraso, General Officer Commanding, Division 1. Saraso commended the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja, for releasing funds for the project and thanked other key stakeholders for their support.
The Nigerian Army Remotely Piloted Aircraft System Regiment had faced accommodation challenges since its establishment in 2022. The new accommodation, which began construction on December 24, 2022, and was completed on August 2, 2024, will address this major constraint.
Saraso stated that the project aligns with the Chief of Army Staff’s philosophy to transform the Nigerian Army into a well-trained, equipped, and highly motivated force. He also thanked the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar, for providing space at the Nigerian Air Force Base, Kaduna.
The Acting Commanding Officer of NARPAS, Major Peter Efe, expressed gratitude to the Chief of Army Staff for approving the construction of the accommodation and promised to maintain it. Efe noted that the Regiment has lived up to expectations since its establishment and this accommodation will enhance their performance.
This development is part of the Nigerian Army’s efforts to address the long-standing issue of insufficient accommodation for military personnel, ultimately boosting morale and operational efficiency.
