Aston Villa and Philippe Coutinho have mutually agreed to terminate his contract, bringing an end to his time at the club. Coutinho’s loan spell with Al Duhail in Qatar had recently come to an end, and despite having two years remaining on his Aston Villa deal, he will now leave on a free transfer.
Manager Unai Emery had made it clear that Coutinho did not feature in his plans, paving the way for the Brazilian’s departure. Coutinho is now expected to return to his home country, with Vasco da Gama working on a deal to sign him.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the termination of Coutinho’s contract was a mutual decision, and he will now be available as a free agent. Romano reported that Vasco da Gama are close to securing Coutinho’s signature, as reported by Bruno Andrade.
