The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has cautioned the Federal Government against lifting the ban on certificates obtained from universities in Togo and the Republic of Benin.
In a statement signed by its National Senate Clerk, Abdul-Yekinn Odunayo, NANS warned that reversing the suspension would have dire consequences for the country’s education system.
Odunayo expressed concern over calls by some Nigerians to lift the suspension, arguing that doing so would undermine Nigeria’s commitment to quality education.
As the giant of Africa and a leader in education, Nigeria must not accept substandard certificates from unverified institutions, he emphasized.
NANS reiterated its support for the Federal Government’s decision to sanitize the education sector and urged the administration to prioritize funding and infrastructure development in tertiary institutions.
The students’ group believes that upholding the ban is crucial for producing high-quality graduates and maintaining Nigeria’s educational standards.
