The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) has announced that it will sell petrol obtained from the Dangote Refinery at varying prices across different regions in Nigeria. The prices, which are above N1,000 per litre, will be highest in the far north, at N1,019 per litre in places like Borno State, and N999.22 in Abuja, Sokoto, Kano, and others.
In other parts of the country, the prices will be slightly lower, ranging from N960 per litre in Oyo, Rivers, and other areas in the South, to the lowest price of N950 in Lagos and its environs. The NNPC has clarified that the prices are not set by the government but are negotiated directly between parties at arm’s length.
The company has also explained that it is paying Dangote Refinery in USD for September 2024 PMS offtake, and naira transactions will only commence on October 1, 2024. The NNPC has assured that if the quoted pricing is disputed, it will pass on any discount from the Dangote Refinery to the general public.
This comes after Dangote Group disagreed with NNPC on Sunday over the price of PMS, with Dangote failing to release its price list. The estimated pump prices are based on September 2024 pricing and will be applicable across NNPC retail stations in the country.
