Enugu State Police Command promised on Thursday to root out criminal elements in the state due to the frequency of kidnappings, armed robberies, and other security threats.
In a statement to Vanguard, the force said that its officers had started raking bushes along main roads in Enugu.
According to the command, “to flush out criminal elements in the state, officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force, Enugu state Command have started combing all the bushes in major highways and internal roads.”
“Police sources said that the drastic action was taken in response to strict orders from Kanyon Uzuegbu, the state’s commissioner of police, stating that all criminal elements and kidnappers who were hibernating inside bushes needed to be exposed and dealt with.”
“To this purpose, a group of brave cops was led by Olasojo, the state’s deputy commissioner of police in charge of operations. They have been travelling the state in order to carry out their boss’s orders.
