Vice President Kashim Shettima has arrived in New York to represent Nigeria at the 79th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). He was received by top Nigerian officials, including the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Yusuf Tuggar, and Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani.
As directed by President Bola Tinubu, Shettima will lead Nigeria’s delegation and deliver the country’s national statement. He will also participate in high-level meetings focused on accelerating progress toward the 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
The 79th UNGA session marks a crucial milestone in global efforts to address pressing challenges, including climate change, poverty, inequality, and global health crises. The Summit of the Future, held during UNGA, emphasizes the need for enhanced international cooperation.
