Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf has approved the appointment of three second-class emirs, effective immediately. The new emirs will serve under the first-class emirate of Kano.
Alhaji Muhammad Karaye, formerly the District Head of Rogo, has been appointed Emir of Karaye. Alhaji Muhammad Umar, previously the District Head of Bunkure, will serve as Emir of Rano. Additionally, Alhaji Aliyu Abdulkadir Gaya, who was previously dethroned as Emir of Gaya, has been reinstated to the position.
The governor congratulated the new emirs and urged them to promote culture, peace, and unity in their respective emirates. This development follows the signing of a law establishing three second-class emirates in the state: Rano, Gaya, and Karaye. Each emirate will cover specific local government areas, with Rano covering Rano, Kibiya, and Bunkure, Gaya covering Gaya, Ajingi, and Albasu, and Karaye covering Karaye and Rogo.
