The Edo State government has begun paying its workers a new minimum wage of N70,000, fulfilling a promise made by Governor Godwin Obaseki.
The Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Edo State Chapter, Odion Olaye, confirmed the payment and commended the government for its commitment to workers’ welfare.
The increase from N40,000 to N70,000 aims to cushion the effects of the country’s economic challenges. The Commissioner for Communication and Orientation, Chris Nehikhare, urged workers to reciprocate the gesture by redoubling their efforts to contribute to the state’s growth.
