The Ikorodu Magistrate’s Court in Lagos State has given the family of the late singer Mohbad the go-ahead to conduct a second autopsy. This development comes after the family expressed dissatisfaction with the initial autopsy results, which were deemed inconclusive.
Mohbad’s death on September 12, 2023, sparked controversy, and his body was exhumed on September 21, 2023, for an autopsy by the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH). However, the family rejected the results, as they failed to reveal the cause of death.
During a recent hearing on June 26, 2024, the Ikorodu Magistrate’s Court granted the family’s request for a second autopsy. The family’s legal representatives had requested an independent toxicology report to be submitted to the court before the final report is released to the authorities.
The court’s decision allows the family to seek further investigation into Mohbad’s cause of death, which remains unclear. The second autopsy may provide the answers the family and fans have been seeking.
