Since May 29, 2023, a total of 1,197 Nigerian-trained doctors have moved to the United Kingdom, as per PUNCH Online’s investigation.
Nigeria is on track to surpass Pakistan, becoming the second-highest provider of foreign-trained doctors in the UK; India currently holds the top spot.
The General Medical Council of the UK maintains the official register of medical practitioners and reports these statistics.
Between May 29, 2023, and December 1, 2023, 1,197 Nigerian-trained doctors were licensed, bringing the total number of licensed Nigerian doctors in the UK to 12,198.
