The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has urged organized labor to insist on a minimum wage of N120,000, accusing the Federal Government of insincerity in its negotiation.
The PDP argues that the government’s extravagance and prioritization of non-essential projects demonstrate its ability to pay a higher minimum wage.
In contrast, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has labeled the PDP’s advice as unpatriotic and accused the opposition of instigating labor against the government.
The APC believes the NLC and TUC’s demand for N494,000 is unreasonable and urges labor to consider the country’s economic realities and the struggles of the larger population.
The nationwide strike, which began on Monday, has paralyzed government offices, airports, schools, and hospitals, with electricity and water supply also affected.
