A recent cholera outbreak in Adamawa State, Nigeria, has resulted in 12 deaths and 304 hospitalizations, according to Chief Felix Tangwami, the state’s Commissioner for Health. The outbreak, confirmed last week, initially reported 10 deaths and 76 hospitalizations. The affected local government areas include Girei, Furore, Yola-South, and Yola-North.
Since the outbreak began two weeks ago, 244 patients have been treated and discharged. To combat the spread of cholera, the United Nations Children’s Fund donated 200,000 doses of cholera drugs to the state government.
