Nigerian soldier commits suicide in Akwa Ibom
A relative of the deceased soldier told SaharaReporters on Sunday that Captain Bazza, a recent father, was found dead, hanging from a tree in a bush on Saturday night in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital.
The family source described the death as ‘mysterious and suspicious,’ noting the absence of a suicide note for his wife, elder sister, or any family member. The source questioned why a Captain in the army would hang himself with a mosquito net, emphasizing that he had no apparent reason for suicide. It was mentioned that he experienced a mysterious loss of his tent mate in Yobe.
The source further shared that Captain Bazza, married in 2017 with only one child, a boy, had no known motive for suicide.
The Nigerian Army headquarters stated that an investigation into the cause of death had commenced. According to the family source, Captain Alphonsus Alexander Kalthy Bazza committed suicide in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. The army headquarters is scrutinizing the circumstances surrounding his death, asserting that his body was found hanging in the bush. No suicide note was left for his wife or any family member, as per the family’s awareness.
