Asue Ighodalo, the Edo State Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate, has stated that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, does not have the power to determine the next governor of the state.
Ighodalo’s statement was in response to Wike’s claim that he told Governor Godwin Obaseki he would not support Ighodalo in the September 21 governorship poll. However, Ighodalo denied this, saying Wike’s statement did not reflect their meeting.
According to Ighodalo, the outcome of the election will be decided by the Edo people, not by Wike or any other political figure. He expressed confidence in his victory, stating that he would concede defeat and congratulate the winner if his party lost fairly.
Ighodalo emphasized that the decision on who becomes the next governor lies with Edo citizens and residents with PVCs, and ultimately, with God Almighty.
