A male student of Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo, has reportedly been killed by a group of fellow students inside a hostel on campus, allegedly for stealing a mobile phone.
The incident occurred at Shepherd Inn, a hostel on the school premises, where the deceased was brutally beaten from 6 pm on Friday to 10 am on Saturday.
According to eyewitnesses, the student was caught with the stolen phone and was subsequently beaten and had his hair forcefully shaved by his assailants. It was reported that the deceased was rolling on the floor while being beaten with sticks.
The university management has confirmed the incident, stating that the students suspected of involvement have been expelled and handed over to the police for prosecution.
The management emphasized that there is no cultism in the institution and that the expelled students do not belong to any cult group. The university has a zero-tolerance policy for anti-social vices and misconduct.
