GRIDCo also stated that there would be a “supply gap of 550 MW during peak times.” Ghana has been grappling with an electrical deficit for many years, which represents almost 10% of the nation’s total capacity.Starting on Thursday evening, a significant outage occurred. While Ghana has experienced frequent power outages, this is the worst in the past two years.
In June, an assessment of the nation’s energy supply described it as “critically unhealthy” and “heading towards a power crisis.” The nation’s economic challenges have exacerbated the electricity situation, as reported by the Centre for Socioeconomic Studies (CSS).
