
Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has approved a new minimum wage of N85,000 for state civil service workers. This decision was reached during a meeting with representatives of organized labor.
The Head of the Rivers State Civil Service, Dr. George Nwaeke, confirmed that the new wage will take effect in November 2024. A technical committee has been established to determine the payment of arrears.
The Rivers State Chairman of the Joint Public Service Negotiating Council, Emecheta Chuku, praised Governor Fubara for approving a minimum wage above the federal government’s requirement.
