About 5000 Federal Worker’s May not Get November and December Salary
Federal civil servants are anxious as around 5,000 may not receive salaries for November and December. Dr. Tommy Okon, National President of ASCSN, revealed this in Abuja, urging swift resolution by the Federal Government.
He clarified that of the 17,000 delisted from IPPIS in October 2023, only those who completed verification but were mistakenly delisted have had salaries restored.Currently, 5,000 civil servants have discrepancies in their appointment and birth dates. 2,772 verified without issues have been forwarded to IPPIS for payment.
Affected civil servants are advised to check the Head of Service website for updates. Okon stated that November salaries are concluded, but December payments, including arrears, might be possible for some affected workers.
Okon appealed to expedite action, ensuring no delay in December salaries, assuring resolution within the law.On promotions exams for Directors aspiring to Permanent Secretaries, Okon emphasized efficiency in civil service and the need for the best hands.
He lamented the decline in skilled officers, citing a recent selection exercise where only 20 of 85 candidates demonstrated the required knowledge and skills.Credit: Punch News
